Both bikes are well suited to the Cyprus trails. This is an island with a vast selection of cross-country and trail style riding with plenty of climbing and descending. The descending is not monster downhill stuff - it's technical in places - but not in a big jumpy sort of way. If you are in training, then you will love some of the continuous climbing available here; 4 to 5 kilometres at a time - phew!
Mountain Bikes are a perfect way to explore the Akamas National Park or up into the Paphos Forest. If you just want to cruise around the Polis area at a leisurely pace, then these bikes can also do that.
When you hire a bike from us, included in the hire is a helmet, a pair of riding gloves, a water bottle and spare inner tube. Each group of riders will be given pumps and a mini tool. We will also be happy to suggest some good areas to ride, marked on a local map. It is not compulsory to wear a helmet in Cyprus on a bicycle, but we strongly recommend that you do.
During the summer months it can be seriously hot and dusty out on the trails, you must keep hydrated. Although we provide a water bottle, you would be well advised to bring your own hydration pack if you have one, or at least a backpack in which to carry spare water.
We have on occasions had to rescue riders from some remote locations. Please be aware that whilst we are happy to come and rescue you if you get stuck or lost somewhere, we will charge you for the privilege. If you take the bike to a remote location, we do expect you to have a degree of mechanical ability - changing an inner tube after a puncture for example or putting on a slipped chain.
In addition, we expect you do have a degree of navigational ability. Whilst we will suggest routes for you, it is your responsibility to ensure that you are confident that you know where you are going. If you do get lost a quick phone call to us will normally get you back on track. If you run out of steam again, we will come and get you but there will be a charge.
If you are not too sure where to ride in Cyprus, we are more than happy to sit down with you and suggest some good areas to ride. We always give you a local map with some suggested routes outlined. However, modern times have arrived in Cyprus and we now have some GPS units available to hire. The units are programmed with some suggested rides, just follow the instructions and you have more time to enjoy the wonderful Cyprus countryside without the fear of getting lost.
The experience of hiring of any piece of equipment, begins the moment you contact the supplier. Helen came back promptly and could deliver the bike within hours of being contacted. Delivery was on time, and the bike came with excellent tools and 2 spare tyres. Helen gave a very good account of cycling around the local area and a map. The bike was a perfect size and rugged. The disc brakes were superb. The bike was ideal for cycling around the Akamas Peninsula, and was a fantastic experience for my holiday. The bike was picked up promptly at the end of the trip! I was grateful for the spare tubes, as I used one of them on my first day, needless to say the pump, levers etc were great for the job!
